Risk Reduction Specialist (BU1026-118) - Operations Division


Risk Reduction Specialist – Perinatal Addictions Prevention Project (PAPP)

This is a full time position that reports to the Program Coordinator. The Risk Reduction Specialist will be overseeing the implementation of a screening tool for the referral of childbearing women at risk for substance abuse and other factors during the prenatal, postpartum and interconceptional period. Coordinates ongoing provider training around screening and referral, conduct related Quality Assurance activities. Identifies relevant system issues and participates in collaborative problem solving. Incorporate public education regarding perinatal substance use risks and promotes public awareness of services and issues associated with substance abuse during pregnancy.

The qualifications for the position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social services or related field required
  • Certification by the NJ Drug and Alcohol Certification Board as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certification in Addiction (CARN) by the Addiction Nursing Certification Board
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills
  • 2 years’ experience in substance abuse treatment services
  • 2 years’ clinical experience in a family outreach or perinatal setting
  • Knowledge of community resources and sensitivity to community issues
  • Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize work load requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with a variety of individuals and facilitate decision-making
  • Desire to expand knowledge base
  • Valid driver’s license, car and current insurance policy

Successful candidates for employment by SNJPC must undergo a criminal background check and driver`s license review.
