Breastfeeding Educator / Peer Counselor

Pleasantville, NJ 

This is a part time position reporting to the Program Coordinator of Healthy Women Healthy Families.  The Breastfeeding Educator / Peer Counselor is responsible to promote and provide basic breastfeeding information. Support the women attending breastfeeding support groups in Atlantic and/or Camden City.


  • To promote breastfeeding and provide basic breastfeeding information to HWHF breastfeeding support group participants.
  • Provide basic breastfeeding information to HWHF mothers at the breastfeeding support group and in the community either by mail or phone.
  • Refer participants to appropriate professional staff.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Participates in mandatory and on-going training.
  • Completes Central Intake Initial Referral Forms for interested participants with support of the Community Health Worker.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of at least 6 months past or present breastfeeding experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training, preferred
  • Interested in learning about breastfeeding
  • Encourage and support other women who breastfeed
  • Valid driver’s license, car and current insurance policy
